Mapping Values in Lebanon

The report synthesizes the debates of a group of 16 intellectuals, philosophers, political scientists, economists, sociologists, and business leaders brought together by LCPS and the Civic Center for National Initiative to discuss, among others, the following: the concept of values, the value system(s) which is most prevalent in Lebanese society including traditional, sectarian, religious, and civil; the geographical distribution of these values across Lebanon; and the extent these values are intertwined.
The discussion highlighted the need to properly conceptualize values as a first step to understanding it. It also called for assessing the different types of value systems that co-exist with sectarianism as well as their impact on political behavior.
