Politics for the People: the Search for a Responsible Popular Voice

A book that describes the process through which Americans become politically engaged, built civic communities, and generate political energy or public will. It presents the gap between the government and the people, the extent to which people in power pursue their own self-interest, and the impact of external players such as pressure groups, the media, and campaign organizers on policy. This book seeks to find ways to restore public involvement in policy through a process that requires accountability and treats the public as more than just a group of consumers, electors, or taxpayers.
