Lebanon’s Machinery Sector Key to Future Development

Lebanon’s machinery sector is among the largest contributors to industrial output in the country and contains high-complexity products that could serve as a springboard for jumping into new products that have the potential to diversify Lebanon’s industrial standing. However, despite continuous improvement and sophistication in the machinery sector, its growth has been largely a result of positive external shocks and individual entrepreneurship efforts. Minimal policy support provided to the sector has failed to transform the economy despite a relatively robust manufacturing sector, suggesting that increased collaboration between the private and public sector would greatly benefit it.
