The sector requires restructuring and support as currently the wood sector primarily imports raw materials, processes them, and then re-exports high-end furniture at a persistent trade deficit.
This brief argues that collaboration between the public and private sectors should focus on setting a strategic vision for the sector, including promoting diversification and innovation through supportive institutional policies and frameworks to promote expansion.
