A book addressing the dilemmas of state building in Lebanon, focusing on the issues of Lebanese sovereignty and rule of law. The author questions the economic choices of the Lebanese State adopted since the 50’s and depicts their linkages with state building, while probing into the nature of the Lebanese system and its ‘alleged liberal democracy’. This book not only describes the nature of the economic, political and social system in Lebanon but proposes an alternative economic model and puts forward the underlying conditions required  to build a genuine liberal democratic system in Lebanon.
