October 17, 2003Deepening the Dialogue for Better Governance in the Middle East and North Africa RegionThe purpose of this conference was to bring together a large group of preeminent experts, researchers, policy advisers and opinion leaders from the countries of the Mediterranean Partnership, as well as concerned staff members from the European Commission and the World Bank, in order to define programmatic priorities and propositions to support efforts and initiatives to advance good governance in the MENA region. Participants discussed key issues of governance in the region and explored means to advance governance reforms in order to further democratic participation, social equity, balanced development, as well as stability and international cooperation.
