Development Debates on Poverty in the Arab Region

A diverse group of policymakers, researchers, Non Governmental Organizations, and individuals from the private sector participated in a series of debates concerning the degree of poverty within the Arab world. Representatives from each country shared their experiences in hopes of formulating a more comprehensive solution to significantly alleviating poverty.
In relation to Lebanon, panelists discussed macro and microeconomic dimensions of poverty, innovations and challenges of health service delivery, and the effectiveness of public institutions in helping and empowering the poor.
The roundtable was organized by the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies as part of a general debate on poverty in the Arab region organized by the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme.
