May 14, 2002A Social Science Strategy for the Arab StatesThis meeting consisted of an intensive exchange of ideas aimed at formulating a proposed social science strategy for the Arab region that UNESCO could build on and develop further. Participants identified developing the region’s leading research institutions and strengthening their ability to network, communicate, and interact with decision makers and civil society at large as a key component of developing a strategy.
Following the meeting, the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies (LCPS) produced an executive summary-report that highlighted the major ideas and proposals that emerged from the meeting. This paper constituted a background document for the preparation of a Social and Human Science strategy for UNESCO in the Arab region.
The meeting was organized by the LCPS with support from the UNESCO Regional Office.
