The Cultural Industries and Cultural Policies in Lebanon

This workshop was opened by the Minister of Culture, Dr. Ghassan Salamé, and included officials, key actors and analysts from various Lebanese cultural industries including printing, publishing, music recording, cinema, design, and performing arts. The workshop contributed to an informed public debate about the most efficient ways for Lebanon to augment its cultural industries in a world in which knowledge economies and creative industries have become integral factors of economic growth and social development.  Participants worked to arrive at a reasonable estimation of the overall size of the sector,  the balance between its major sub-sectors, and  the growth trend over the last decade  as well as review the legal and regulatory framework affecting the Lebanese cultural industries sector.

This workshop was organized in collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAF).

The results of the workshop were published in a book entitled: Cultural Industries in Lebanon.
