July 12, 2000Privatization and State Regulation: The Telecommunication SectorThis workshop addressed the process and strategy of privatization in Lebanon in light of the recently adopted privatization law. It focused on the telecommunications sector as one of the first considered for privatization and featured presentations on the institutional requirements and economic and social impacts of privatizing telecommunications in Lebanon. The workshop was inaugurated by the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Dr. Issam Naaman, and was attended by many experts and researchers interested in engaging in a national debate on a topic of such relevance to Lebanon's economic and social development.
This workshop was organized in collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAF).
