December 02, 1999The Arab World and Globalization: Challenges and OpportunitiesThis conference focused on how Arab countries should respond to an increasingly interconnected world without compromising the integrity of the region. Participants discussed the challenges of global integration, the use of new information and communication technologies, globalization and changing social policies, and global culture in relation to Arab cultural development.
In terms of economic goals, participants identified the need to cultivate an expanding job market for the region’s growing labor force and to develop innovative strategies to draw benefits from expanding world markets.
The conference was organized by the LCPS in collaboration with the Regional Bureau for Arab States (RBAS)-United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Tunisian Ministry of International Cooperation and Foreign Investment.
