The Fiscal Decentralization in the Arab World

Participants examined the level and conditions of decentralization in seven Arab countries: Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, and Yemen. These countries historically present different profiles on the centralization/decentralization continuum. The workshop aimed at helping participants reach a common understanding of the functions and benefits of local government.
The findings were published in a book titled, "Fiscal Decentralization in the Arab World."
The workshop was organized by the LCPS with support from the Economic Development Institute (EDI) of the World Bank and partner organizations throughout the Arab world.
