November 21, 2007Putting the Industrial Sector Back on Track by Developing New Exportable ProductsLCPS hosted a conference which sought to begin envisioning ways to ignite structural transformation of Lebanon’s industrial sector. The event brought together key stakeholders to debate and attempt to build consensus on the problems facing the sector on both policy and institutional levels. The four issues discussed were the absence of diversification policies; market structure, tariffs, and fees; cost of finance and overvalued exchange rate; and high electricity bills and expensive transport services.
