Administrative Decentralization in Lebanon

A project addressing the necessary shift to a de-concentration of administrative power, a decentralization of government services, and the healthy growth of municipal government in  order to achieve balanced development in Lebanon. While administrative decentralization has been recognized as a priority by the Taif Agreement and a special ministry has set up to galvanize municipal development, LCPS has organized two detailed studies on administrative decentralization and municipal government. The studies involve field surveys, legal and constitutional reports, fiscal analysis, workshops, conferences, and other activities and bring together practitioners, policy-makers, scholars, and administrative experts  in order to explore new policy alternatives in these important areas.

This project was conducted with support from the Ford Foundation.
