January 01, 1998The Economic and Social Impacts of Mobile Source Pollution in Beirut A project examining the effects of air pollution from mobile sources on public health in Lebanon. The study measures air pollution from motor vehicles in Beirut, determines the relationship between pollutants and public health, and quantifies these negative health effects.
The project was part of a larger effort by the Harvard Institute of International Development (HIID) to encourage sustainable economic growth by integrating environmental concerns into fiscal policy-making throughout the Mediterranean countries.
This project was implemented in collaboration with the World Bank, HIID, and the Ministry of Environment.
