January 01, 2017 Assessing the Politics of Aid
This project analyzed foreign assistance, including bilateral and multilateral support, in addition to other forms of financing, made available to Jordan and Lebanon since 2005. It assessed its impact in terms of economic effectiveness and reasons for shortcomings in addressing structural poverty and deep inequality in different countries. This project entailed a series of interviews with key informants; consultations with civil society partners such as human rights organizations as well as regional and international think tanks; consultations with academic, government, and financial institutions such as the World Bank and Islamic Development Bank; and a report containing completed analysis and recommendations for Lebanon and Jordan.
