A floating Electricity Plant Divides Lebanon

As Lebanon’s residents know all too well, the country suffers from an acute shortage of state-provided electricity. Planned power plant upgrades have not materialized and the power barges which were brought in as a stopgap measure to satisfy the country’s power consumption needs are taking on a more permanent presence along Lebanon’s shoreline. LCPS’s Executive Director Sami Atallah spoke to The Economist on the state of the electricity sector and how the country’s elites have benefited from it in an article which can be accessed here: https://www.economist.com/middle-east-and-africa/2018/09/29/a-floating-electricity-plant-divides-lebanon.
