July 09, 2003 Iraq and the Region after The War: Issues of Economic and Social Reconstruction
This workshop was open to a limited number of participants and selected experts with experience in reconstruction and a familiarity with the region, particularly Iraq. The three day workshop examined the impact of the war in Iraq and focused on approaches to reconstruction, rehabilitation and development, and practical steps for the future. Participants considered regional impact of the Iraq conflict and the role of the international community post-conflict, and examined social, financial, economic and cross-sectoral issues from an Iraqi perspective.
This workshop was organized in collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, the World Bank, and the United Nations Development Program.
