February 23, 1996
Lebanese Water and Regional Peace

This workshop highlighted a study presented by a research associate of the LCPS, Fouad Boulos, which focused on Lebanese water resources in the context of multilateral peace talks. The study indicates indicates that Lebanon's dam system is deficient and unable to conserve Lebanon's water resources for agriculture or household use.
Participants agreed that if Lebanon experiences rapid development in agriculture, industry, and home water delivery, it will use up all its available water resources. Consequently, exporting Lebanese water, as outlined by agreements reached in regional peace talks, would not be viable.
The workshop was organized by the LCPS.
