Seminar

April 03, 1996
The Labor Market and Labor Policy in Lebanon The Lebanese Economic Tribune (LET)

This seminar featured a presentation by Dr. Najib Issa on Lebanon’s labor market. The study outlined various ways to improve employment and production, including developing a national data bank on labor supply and demand by sector, region, and specialization. It also encouraged investment in productive semi-skilled and highly skilled sectors of industry, agriculture, and services. Lastly, his presentation highlighted the need to limit the influx of foreign labor to reduce domestic unemployment as well as restructuring the private and public educational and vocational systems.
The study and discussions from the seminar contributed to the publication of a research paper titled, “The Labor Market and Labor Policy in Lebanon.”
The seminar was part of a larger research and conference program titled, “The Lebanese Economic Tribune (LET),” and was organized by the LCPS with support from the International Center for Economic Growth (ICEG) and the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE).
