Decentralization for Development
In light of the political deadlock and a fiscally constrained central government, it is pivotal for regional and local administrations in Lebanon to play a proactive and effective role in promoting local development. The socio-economic crisis currently facing Lebanon could in fact provide an opportunity to seriously consider ways to develop the regions, particularly the poor and marginalized ones. To this end, this one day conference aims to highlight how a strong decentralization can be marshalled for local development.
