Civic Education in the Arab World: Common Perspectives, Problems and Potential Cooperation

This workshop examined civic education in the evolving context of the contemporary Arab world. Participants discussed the structure of civic education programs, the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in promoting civic education, techniques of teaching civic education in schools, and the principles behind designing civic education curricula.
In order to strengthen civic education in the Arab world, participants agreed to establish the Arab Civic Education Follow-up Committee, which will meet consistently in the future.
The LCPS published the presentations from the conference in a Conference Proceedings Report titled, "Civic Education in the Arab World: Common Perspectives, Problems, and Potential Cooperation."
The LCPS organized the workshop with support from the Canadian International Development Agency.
