Roundtable discussion

Failed States in the Arab World? Lebanon, Iraq, Morocco and Yemen

A series of four roundtable discussions were conducted with Arab thinkers regarding failed states and state building in the Arab world. The aim of the roundtables was to explore some experiences of state failure and the building of five selected Arab countries (Lebanon, Iraq, Morocco, and Yemen) with regards to the alternation of failure and sustainability and the range in between. It also sought to document these experiences and provide first hand research on state building in the Arab world. Speakers and experts were invited to Beirut to sit on different RTDs and speak about the experience of their countries, the reasons for State failure, best practices and success stories from other countries, and opportunities for change for each country’s case.
The roundtables were organized in conjunction with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.
