Supporting Long-Term Planning Capacity for Conflict Prevention in the Middle East

LCPS hosted a workshop during which Members of Parliament and government advisors analyzed economic, environmental and socio-political trends and evaluated their relationship to potential conflicts in Lebanon. The first session focused on prioritization and discussion of trends leading to conflict. Participants evaluated each trend by examining its impact on and probability of leading to conflict. The second session dealt with cross impact analysis of trends leading to conflict and concentrated on the linkages between the different trends. This workshop is part of a regional project aimed to support long-term sustainable peace and security in the Middle East by contributing to the capacity of state planning in long-term conflict prevention, particularly with regard to economic, socio-political and environmental threats.
The workshop was hosted along with the Crisis Management Initiative.
